We, the students of Northwestern State University, in order to share with the Board of Trustees, the Administration, and the Faculty the responsibility for developing and maintaining Northwestern as a meaningful community and to promote the general welfare of all students, do hereby establish this Student Government Association.
Departments

Academic Affairs

Commissioner- Emily C. 
The general purpose of the Department of Academic Affairs shall be to work with the University Vice-President of Academic Affairs in areas concerning the core curriculum, instructor/course evaluations, academic advising, registration, or other pertinent areas not mentioned herein, to provide SGA representation on all available University Academic Committees and to perform any other pertinent services

External Affairs

Commissioner- Chelsea Zeno

The general purpose of the Department of External Affairs shall be to publicize all SGA activities and programs, to plan and host at least one "Meet Your Senator Day" each semester, to obtain a weekly timeslot for the "SGA Radio Show", to plan and host at least two "SGA Ballroom Meetings" each semester & to perform any other pertinent services.

Student Affairs

Commissioner- Megan Mcdaniel
The general purpose of the Department of Student Affairs shall be to deal with problems on campus life brought to the attention of the Senate and to suggest solutions to any such problems, provide Senate representation on the Traffic Appeals and Traffic and Safety Committees, to perform any other pertinent services.

Fiscal Affairs

Treasurer Matthew Morrison

The general purpose of this Department shall be to assist the SGA Treasurer in carrying out his/her duties, working with the Financial Aid Department of Northwestern State University in seeing that the SGA Scholarships are provided for during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, and to perform any other pertinent services not mentioned herein.

Internal Affairs

Speaker Zech Jones

The general purpose of the Department of Internal Affairs shall be to assist the SGA Vice-President and Speaker of the Senate in carrying out their duties, review and recommend changes in the SGA Constitution and By-laws as needed, provide revised Senate rules that will govern all Student Government Association meetings for the semester at the first meeting of each semester. To assure that all Senators are following the Senate rules and promptly follow proper action should a Senator not follow those rules and to perform any other pertinent services not mentioned herein.
